At the last KLAS conference I was asked to post a description of my method for keeping my author headings clean that I discussed at the conference prior. I've finally gotten around to doing it! This method also works with narrator headings, which can also get a little messy over time. If you have any questions let me know.

Robert says: "I just took another look at what I posted back then, and our process here hasn’t really changed. The only difference now is that the number of authors in KLAS now exceeds the maximum number of rows allowed in Excel. What we’ve started doing is tackling the task in two parts. First we do exactly what we did then, but we note which record is the last to fit in Excel. Then we go back to Authors in Heading Maintenance and sort it from Z to A, export to Excel, find the last author that fit in the first part, delete everything after that, and then clean up what’s left the same way as before. It’s a pain, but it works. "

When I worked with Katharina on this recently, she explained it similarly: "For the narrator/author headings - sort the list A-Z and export whatever the limit is. (35,000? 45,000?) and then sort Z-A and export again. In excel put them on the same sheet and cut out whatever overlaps in the middle".

Thanks Robert and Katharina for your help!
